Mr. Art Laboe:
Thank you for bringing to the Los Angeles area one of the greatest musical experience that all people (especially Blacks like me) will cherish all our lives. Soul didn't just start with black artist being played more on the local radio station. It also started with you. I listen to your Killer Oldies Show every Sunday night on my way home on the bus from Los Angeles. Once in a while you play a song that even I hadn't heard. Last week it was STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART-Con Funk Shun. Never knew that group made slow love songs until I checked out other songs they've made. They've made quite a few.
I haven't done a Shout-out or Dedication yet, but one day I may.
Thank God you're still around to keep us entertained. God Bless You.

I have to tell you that I love your show so much, and thank you!
Also I would like to dedicate a song to my boyfriend Jr In north Hollywood to tell him that I’m sorry but it’s not going to work out he lied to me and I just lost his trust.
So Art I would love it if you’d pick a song for this sad situation!
Thank you once again Art,

Hey Art, My first concert that I went to with you was when I was 21 years old (that was 32 years ago) at the Hollywood Palladium. I remember it started at 6 pm on Sat and ended at 6 am Sun I drove 2 hours to get there I took my sister, her husband, and my little brother I made sure I was in line by 3 pm. We stayed till the very last song. Since then I have attended your concerts at Glen Helen I was able to go with my other sister who was visiting from Arkansas and listens to you via internet. Since then I have made the last 3 years with my daughter who enjoys listening to you also, we look forward to going again this year. Its one thing we look forward to every year a father and daughter thing. We listen to all the time on Hot 92.3 and 99.1. Hopefully one day we will be able to meet you live my daughter would just go crazy. Even when she's at her grandmother's (my mom) they listen to you.

Hot 92.3 is home for radio legend, Art Laboe, where you can hear him SIX nights a week! He’s on the air taking all of your dedications, shout-outs, and special requests!
Art Laboe is an American pioneering disc-jockey, songwriter, record producer, and radio station owner who is credited with the term “Oldies But Goodies.”
In the early 1950’s, Art Laboe was on of the first West Coast disc jockeys to play Rock & Roll on the radio and one of the first to play Black and White artists. In 1956, his show on KPOP radio was the #1 radio show in the Los Angeles area (and he’s still #1 today!) He acted as MC for early Rock performers such as Jerry Lee Lewis at concerts at The El Monte Legion Stadium and The Hollywood Bowl. In 1958 his dance party show came to KTLA television in Los Angeles. He later rescued KRLA from near oblivion, turning it into one of the top three stations in the West Coast market.
Through his “Original Sound Records” company, Laboe put together the first-ever record album to feature hit songs by various artists. Titles “Oldies But Goodies,” the album stayed on Billboard magazine’s Top 100 LPs chart for over three years, For decades, Laboe was at the heart of the West Coast music scene and the city of Los Angeles declared July 17, 1981 to be “Art Laboe Day” when he received a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame. Art Laboe memorabilia can be seen at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum’s Interactive Rock and Radio exhibit in Cleveland, Ohio.
Today, Art Laboe continues his music as an MC, promoter, and radio DJ. His “Killer Oldies” show can be heard every Sunday night on Hot 92.3 and select cities across the West Coast. In 2006, he joined Hot 92 Jamz full-time, hosting the night show from 7PM to Midnight, Monday through Friday.
Art Laboe is widely known for creating the oldies format in radio, and his music sense directly reflects the Hot 92 Jamz philosophy of playing a perfect mix of Old School favorites along with R&B hits of today!
